Welcome to he main railway station in Bergen - Bergen Stasjon! It's the terminal on the Bergen line, which serves trains from Oslo and other touristic cities like Voss and Myrdal.
You might be able to tell from the facade and the architectural style that the station is older than the central Oslo S station. It was built in 1913, four years before the Berge Line started operations. |
The Bergen station was a master work of Jens Zetlitz Monrad Kielland, who design the station in the national romantic style after his work on the famous local sight Gamlehaugen (the palace for Norwegian Royal Family in Bergen) was completed.
